Day of The Year Day and the founder of The Guiness Book of Records dies at 78 along with Mr Mac at 60..
In 1951, Sir Hugh Beaver, then the managing director of the Guinness Brewery, went on a shooting party and became involved in an argument. Which was the fastest game bird in Europe – the golden plover or the grouse? He realized then that a book supplying the answers to this sort of question might prove popular. He was right!
Sir Hugh’s idea became reality when Norris and Ross McWhirter, who had been running a fact-finding agency in London, were commissioned to compile what became The Guinness Book of Records. The first edition was bound on August 27, 1955, and went to the top of the British bestseller lists by Christmas that year.
Since then, Guinness World Records™ has become a household name and the global leader in world records. No other enterprise collects, confirms, accredits and presents world record data with the same investment in comprehensiveness and authenticity.
As the Keeper of the Records, I maintain a vigilant watch to guarantee the accuracy and relevance of each and every Guinness World Record™, and my team of researchers operates with unswerving impartiality and commitment to veracity. A fact may only become a Guinness World Record™ when it’s tested, verified and elevated above all suspicion.
The book has gone on to become a record breaker in its own right. With sales of more than 100 million copies in 100 different countries and 37 languages, Guinness World Records™ is the world’s best ever selling copyright book!

Johnny Depp been eating too much of Madonas favorite dessert delicatacy - so decided to actup with sword and swash~buckel the chef here at the Noel Arms of Chipping Campden

"Then Johnny got this look in his eye and started yelling that he had to kill the chef for making such amazing sticky toffee pudding and custard. He had it for three days on the trot and says it's the most delicious thing he's ever eaten."
Depp is currently in England for filming on The Libertine
Johnny Depp portrays John Wilmot, a. k. a. the Earl of Rochester, a 17th century poet who famously drank and debauched his way to an early grave -- succumbing to syphilis at the age of 33 -- only to earn posthumous critical acclaim for his life's work

"Because she knows me like no one else in this world, she knew that the silence had meaning. It took only a few seconds before she answered with her own silence."

Some screenshots of Google's Gmail via shikencho

Ads don't appear on every page. I'd guess they come up about once every 3 or 4 messages right now. Sometimes you get ads, sometimes related pages, sometimes both, sometimes none.
Often they're eerily relevant. A Related Pages link to BoingBoing came up twice in my mail today.
Anyhow, I'm sure more screenshots will appear on the web soon

The London Times Rich List here

Philip Beresford, who compiles the list, said: “Our millionaires are getting richer quicker than any others in the world. We have a benign period right now. We have a stable economy, relatively low inflation and interest rates, high employment, booming house prices and consumer spending, and general stability

Roman Abramovich, 37, one of the youngest and most influential of Russia's oligarchs, remained largely unknown until recently...

The billionaire recently added to his portfolio of property a six-story house in London's Eaton Square, part of the estate of the Duke of Westminster, said to be worth more than $46 million. He also owns homes in West Sussex, Moscow and St. Tropez on the French Riviera. Abramovich's custom-made 300-foot yacht, Le Grand Bleu, worth $90 million, features a helicopter and two hovercraft launches. The yacht's christening in Rio de Janeiro was attended by many of Abramovich's friends. Its home port is in Bermuda.

Watched the delectations of Ashley Judd in Someone Like You circa 2001..

Despite what critics had to say, I loved this movie. It was one of the few romantic comedies that I actually like. It isn't the best movie in the world, but it certainly isn't the worst movie in the world. To be honest, I only saw it because I love Ashley Judd. She does not give the best performance in the movie though. Hugh Jackman does. He's a fantastic actor. He was great in X-MEN, SWORDFISH, and he's great in this. I like him as one of the romantic leads and I hope to see him in more romantic comedies and I hope to see more romantic comedies like this.
